Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Consultation
As a part of your child’s educational experience at Cosby Primary School, we aim to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive taught programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education that gives children and young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives, both now and in the future
As you may already be aware, the Department for Education has announced changes to relationships and sex education following nationwide consultation. These changes came into effect from September 2020 and all schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements. The statutory guidance can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/relationships-education-relationships-and-sex-education-rse-and-health-education
In light of these changes, we are reviewing our PSHE curriculum and policy, so we can be sure our provision is appropriate for our pupils.
Please find below a draft copy of our RSE Policy, an overview of our PSHE curriculum and an RSE guide for parents.
Part of this review includes a consultation period with parents and carers, which will take place online due to Covid-19 restrictions.
As part of implementing the RSE curriculum, schools must consult with the children, parents, staff and governors to ensure there is a general consensus on our approaches to policy and the curriculum content.
As part of this, parents, staff and governors, will be asked to read through the following documents.
Please send any comments and feedback to the school office by Friday 11th December 2020.
These documents will be available to read on the school website, or you can request printed copies from the office.
