Teaching & Learning Committee

My connection with Cosby Primary School began as a parent more than thirty years ago, when my son started school at the annexe (now Brook House School) on Croft Road which housed some of the Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 pupils.

I have recently retired from a career in education. I have taught in several primary schools and have always had an interest in the learning of mathematics. This has led to roles in teacher education; working for Leicestershire County Council as an advisor and as an associate tutor at the Universities of Leicester & Northampton.

I became a Governor at the school in 2016 and have enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside committed staff and governors who are determined to ensure an excellent education for all the children at the school.

Nick was new to the governing body from July 2018.

I have been teaching Physical Education and Geography in Secondary Education for fifteen years. My Mum taught in Primary Education for Thirty Five years, so I was regularly 'employed' to support P.E. lessons and help with reading!

This instilled a passion for education at a young age. I am keen to use my experience to support the school in any way I can, but also to develop my own understanding of education and young people through being a governor.

I am a proud Welshman, I love my rugby and for my sins I follow Southampton FC!

I have two daughters Ella and Cerys.

Ella has now left Cosby, having thoroughly enjoyed her time here and is in the first term of her secondary school 'journey' in Year 7 at Thomas Estley.

Cerys is in Year 5 and is glad to back at school with all her friends.

Cosby School is at the heart of a wonderful community and living in Narborough this role gives me the opportunity to be a part of it.

Finance Committee

I joined as a co-opted govener in October 2018 after moving to the village the same year.

Teaching & Learning Committee

I was co-opted on to the governing body in October 2018. I am a Parish Councillor and hope to continue to form strong links between the school and council. I am interested in all aspects of school life especially early years and special educational needs and disabilities.

Gavin joined as a co-opted governor in December 2019 and sits within the management committee. He has 2 children who are both currently at Cosby Primary School, although his interest in becoming a school governor began whilst first looking around the school and deciding it was the place for his children.

He believes every child should have a safe place to learn, free from bullying and discrimination, and have the chance to become the best they can be.

Gavin spent the first part of his career in housing maintenance before spending 2 years living and working in Kenya. It was then time for a change and he has spent the last 15 years working for the Police.

Chelsee has been a governor since December 2019. She joined as a parent governor when her child joined Cosby Primary.
